Sven Beckert is an American historian, and Laird Bell Professor of American History at Harvard University.〔(History of American Civilization Department Profile )〕 Beckert was born in Frankfurt. Even as a child, Beckert always wanted to be a historian. He graduated from Columbia University with a PhD in History.
